Having been a Log and Timber Frame home builder for twenty-five years, it was a horrendous blow when Cecil suffered a mild stroke at age 47.    Ultimately, it forced him back into the VA health care system, which he had avoided like the plague for years.  After some time had passed, it was obvious he would no longer be able to complete the rigors that await in the construction industry.  With guidance from friends and loved ones he was able to get into the Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation Program that allowed him to utilize unused portions of the GI Bill that was earned years prior.  Having been an avid outdoorsman and shooter for many years, including reloading his own ammunition, it seemed the logical avenue of pursuit to be in the firearms industry, if possible.  At this age, starting a new career and not having the opportunity to apprentice under a Smith, It seemed the only logical way to pursue this new path was through extensive research and education through other than normal avenues.  

 "As I was obtaining my associate in science of Firearms Technology from Sonoran Desert Institute, I began completing all of the proper steps involved in starting a gunsmith company.  Once the preliminaries were in place, I applied for my first Federal Firearms Licenses (01 and 06) and graduated with honors in January 2021 and promptly opened Mountain Man Gun Worx.  After completing the degree, I immediately enrolled in American Gunsmithing Institutes' advanced gunsmithing program and, completed the final certification in Jan of 2022.  Then, on to Modern Gun School's 'Advanced Gunsmithing' program that was completed in July 2022.  I have also taken welding and manual machining courses at our local community college (HCC) over the course of the last year.   I am as dedicated to providing the highest quality craftsmanship as I have been in gaining the education that I have acquired over the last few years and consider myself fortunate to be able to pursue my second dream career."  Cecil

Service on my firearm was great. Gotten multiple firearms worked. Great gunsmith that has a lot of knowledge in what he does. Prices are extremely reasonable. Would recommend to everyone that needs repairs.

Excellent quality workmanship with suggestions that have improved the accuracy of my brother's rifle.
Service requested surpassed expectations, making my cher's shotgun comfortable for her to handle.

So I searched for a gun smith and mountain man gun worx was one of the choices, I spoke to Cecil on the phone, and he was very knowledgeable, I felt comfortable leaving my weapon with him, he fixed my issues speedily and at an excellent price. I am about to send another of my babies to get worked on very soon and will recommend mountain man gun worx to everyone. Did I say he was a vet as well? He is, vet owned and operated.
